Something new in the frame department... Or at least something different.

I will always prefer the frame options for the 5PEED, and I've got a weak spot for the old Cutlass frames on my IR3s, but I can't stand the frame on the A1.

To me its always looked goofy and felt strange, like holding a bar of soap or something. I love the size and shape of the trigger guard, but the grip is too thick behind the trigger... I'm not entirely sure how to put it, but it seems like it should be tapered up from a wider base? Maybe a hump, or a snatch, or both?

I can actually put some work into it, but heres a quick MSPaint:

Put that single trigger 90 I just sold you on there. Now that would be sexy!

I'm so with you on that! If the 5PEED-style 90 and 45 were options for the A1... Oooooh. Yeah.

A hump, tapered top, and good sized snatch.

Tapered top, small snatch.

A small hump, cutaway top, small snatch

Not quite 90... Needs ASA moved.

Not quite 90... Like an 86 with a 45-style palm swell. Needs the ASA moved.

A1 Fly with stock A4 frame. One less thing to wonder about.

*edit* For the record, there has never been a bigger fan of the 90* frame than me, but it just doesn't work on the A1, functionally or aesthetically. The A1 is too short to comfortably shoot with a 90* frame. And as far as looks, well, just look.

I'm just thinking, the traditional Angel 90* frame has become the "standard" 90, from grip pattern to shape... It's very tall (much taller than it needs to be, probable to fit the board and with AGD guns LPRs) so I wonder whether a "new 90" that's shorter and thinner might be right? Plus, who knows what could be done with the new AR:K platform as far as moving the reg forward a little bit, and bringing up the gripframe a few cm?

Either way, Strangeloves pics seem to make it pretty clear that an traditional 90* frame on an A1 would feel and look WEIRD.

I'm going to cut blanks for #1, #3, and #4 from the post above.

Anybody willing to donate a dead/broken A1 board (or a properly sized replica using bondo/quiksteel)*** and trigger would be much appreciated.

They won't be pretty or polished but hopefully they'll be functional.

***probably gonna do this with a SD UTB in mind.

I tried to snatch it up within 2 minutes of it being posted a month ago... never got a reply, the guy hasn't been back (logged on) since. I think I'm gonna have to set this up the not-quite-90* for microswitch/UTB anyway, since it seems the board won't fit easily.

Anyway, I've got a full CAD rendering of #1 which will accept an A1 trigger and board. I'm setting up a jig to cut a few blanks from 2618-T61 (soft, and what I have on hand) and I'll probably have to do the rest by hand (no access to a decent shop or time to find one).

Still hoping someones got a beat up A1 trigger lying around..
